Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Perfect for Leftovers- This is my favorite way to reinvent leftover buffalo chicken dip and create something new and delicious!
  • Easy to Make- These bombs require just two main ingredients and come together in under 15 minutes.
  • Crispy and Cheesy- The air fryer gives them a golden, crispy exterior, and the filling is loaded with creamy, spicy goodness.
  • Perfect Game Day Eats- Bite-sized and shareable, these are ideal for snacking during a big game.

Ingredients

ingredients for making buffalo chicken bombs
  • Buffalo Chicken Dip: This is the heart of the recipe. You can use leftover homemade dip or store-bought for convenience. For a store-bought option, we love Publix Deli Buffalo Chicken Dip!
  • Jumbo Flaky Layers Biscuits: These work best because they're larger than most biscuits and easy to peel apart, giving you two biscuits from one, which makes them easier to stuff. Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers Biscuits are the OG.
  • Butter + Ranch Seasoning: Melted butter mixed with ranch seasoning is brushed over the dough balls for extra flavor and crispiness.

See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Substitutions & Variations

  • Dough: If you don't have Grands buttermilk biscuits, you can use crescent rolls or pizza dough.
  • Filling: No buffalo chicken dip? You can use shredded BBQ chicken or regular chicken salad.
  • Spicy: Add extra hot sauce to the buffalo chicken dip if you want an extra spicy kick.
  • Cheese Lovers: For extra cheesy goodness, sprinkle cheddar cheese inside the bombs before sealing them. You can also top them with blue cheese crumbles after cooking for an added tangy flavor.

Instructions

Step 1: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).

Step 5: In a small bowl, melt butter and mix with ranch seasoning. Brush this mixture on the outside of each dough ball.

Step 6: Place the bombs seam side down in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each. Cook for 7-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Step 7: Let cool slightly and serve with dipping sauces.

Tips For Best Results

  • Don't Overfill: Stick to a small spoonful of buffalo chicken dip to prevent the buffalo chicken bites from bursting open during cooking.
  • Pull Edges Closed: Make sure to fully pull edges of biscuit dough together when sealing the bombs, so the filling stays enclosed during cooking.
  • Cool Slightly Before Serving: Let the bombs rest for 2-3 minutes after removing them from the air fryer. This allows the cheese to firm up slightly, making them less messy to eat.
  • Alternative cooking method: If you don't have an air fryer, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the bombs on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve alongside celery sticks and carrot sticks for a classic buffalo-style experience.
  • Offer a variety of dipping sauces like blue cheese, ranch dressing, or extra buffalo sauce for an added flavor boost.
  • These bombs also pair perfectly with other appetizers like chips and salsa or a light salad to round out the snack spread.

Storage

  • Refrigerator: Store leftover Buffalo Chicken Bombs in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing: Freeze the unbaked bombs for up to 1 month. Thaw in the fridge before air frying.
  • Reheating: To reheat, place them back in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3-5 minutes until warmed through and crispy again.
