Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts about 3-4 oz each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon BBQ seasoning or dry rub see notes for recipe
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce plus more for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F. Pat chicken dry with a paper towel and rub in seasoning on both sides of the chicken breasts.
  • Brush each chicken piece with a generous layer of BBQ sauce on top before cooking.
  • Place the chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 8 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Brush with more BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Homemade BBQ Dry Rub: If you don’t have a premade BBQ seasoning, mix together: 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon black pepper, and optional: ¼ teaspoon brown sugar or cayenne for extra sweetness or heat.
  • Cooking time may vary based on thickness. Use a meat thermometer for best results.
  • Add another layer of BBQ sauce after cooking for a sticky, saucy finish.
  • Avoid overcrowding the basket, cook in batches for even results if needed.
