Equipment

  • 6 popsicle sticks

Ingredients

  • 3 firm bananas peeled and halved
  • 5 oz white chocolate or almond bark melted
  • 12 candy eyes

Instructions

  • Peel and cut each banana in half. Insert a popsicle stick into the flat end.
  • Place white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  • Hold each banana by the stick and dip into the melted chocolate, covering about 80 to 90 percent. Use a narrow glass instead of a wide bowl for easier coating.
  • Lay the dipped bananas on a parchment-lined baking sheet and press on two candy eyes before the chocolate sets.
  • Place the tray in the freezer for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until set.
  • Keep frozen until you’re ready to serve. They’re best slightly thawed for a creamy bite.

Notes

  • Use firm, yellow bananas for best texture.
  • Dip the popsicle stick in melted chocolate before inserting to help it stay secure.
  • For a fun twist, add sprinkles, coconut, or crushed nuts before freezing.
  • Keep boonanas frozen in an airtight container for up to one month.
