Ingredients

  • 5 large apples skin on and diced
  • 1 15 oz can pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • ¼ cup bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ tablespoon cinnamon

Instructions

  • Add the apples, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, bourbon, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and spices to your slow cooker. Stir until well combined.
  • Cook low and slow: Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours, stirring once or twice during cooking, until the apples are very soft and the mixture has thickened.
  • Turn off the slow cooker and let the mixture cool for about 20 minutes so it’s easier to blend.
  • Use an immersion blender right in the slow cooker (or transfer to a blender) until smooth and creamy.
  • Let the pumpkin apple butter cool completely before spooning it into jars.

Notes

  • This recipes yields about 2 cups.
  • Skip bourbon or swap for apple cider for a family-friendly version.
  • Try it on biscuits, oatmeal, or yogurt for an easy fall breakfast.
  • Freeze for up to 3 months for long-term storage.
