Equipment

  • Silcone baking mat
  • Tall glass
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 cup colored candy melts
  • 10 pretzel rods
  • Sprinkles, candy eyeballs, candy corn, slivered almonds, etc.

Instructions

  • Prep your space by laying out wax paper or a silicone baking sheet for easy removal of the pretzel rods once coated.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt candy melts according to package instructions. Stir until smooth.
  • Dip the top of the pretzel about two-thirds of the rod into the melted chocolate. You may need to use a spoon to help coat the pretzel evenly and remove any excess chocolate.
  • Before the candy hardens, add your toppings. Use candy eyes, spooky sprinkles, or crushed candies to create your chosen design. If adding detailed designs (like mummy bandages or monster faces), use a piping bag or a plastic sandwich bag with the tip cut off to pipe candy melts onto the pretzels.
  • Place the decorated pretzel rods on the wax paper or silicone baking sheet and let them harden at room temperature for about 20 minutes, or until fully set.

Notes

Be sure to work quickly when decorating, as candy melts can harden fast.
Store the pretzel rods in an airtight container lined with parchment paper to keep them fresh and prevent sticking.
