Ingredients

  • ¼ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard powder
  • ½ teaspoon chipotle chili pepper powder

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a small bowl and stir until fully combined.
  • Transfer to an airtight jar or container. Label with the name and date, then store in a cool, dry place.

Notes

  • This recipe makes about ½ cup (1 tbsp/serving).
  • Store in an airtight container like a small mason jar or spice jar for up to 6 months in a cool, dry pantry.
  • If the brown sugar starts to clump, just give the jar a good shake or stir before using. It’s still perfectly fine!
  • Use about 1 to 1½ tablespoons of rub per pound of meat for great flavor without overpowering.
  • This rub is perfect for more than meat. Try it on roasted vegetables, air-fried tofu, popcorn, or stirred into dips and dressings!
