Ingredients

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • cup pumpkin puree
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk fat-free
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, whisk together the brown sugar and water over medium heat until the sugar fully dissolves.
  • Lower the heat to medium-low and add the pumpkin puree, sweetened condensed milk, pumpkin pie spice, and a small pinch of salt. Whisk until everything is smooth and well combined.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring often so it doesn’t stick.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Let the sauce cool for 10 to 15 minutes before transferring it to a jar. It will thicken slightly as it cools.

Notes

  • For a stronger spice flavor, add an extra ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice.
  • Stir into coffee, drizzle over pancakes, or add to Greek yogurt for a fall breakfast twist.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 2 months.
