If there's one thing I love having in the fridge during the summer, it's a fresh salsa I can throw on just about anything. This jalapeno peach salsa is sweet, spicy, colorful, and perfect for scooping with chips, spooning over tacos, or piling onto a grilled chicken bowl.

A bowl of jalapeno peach salsa is served with tortilla chips, fresh peaches, and limes.

I love peaches any way they come, but diced up with jalapeno, lime, cilantro, and red onion? That might be one of my favorite ways to use them when peach season is showing off. It adds that fresh, juicy pop to a summer spread without requiring any cooking, which is exactly the kind of recipe I want for BBQs, pool days, and last-minute get-togethers.

As a dietitian and Southern cook, I love when a simple condiment helps add more fresh produce to the table without making things complicated.

If you're planning a summer spread, this pairs so well with grilled peach chicken, Mexican smashed potatoes, and southern peach lemonade.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Quick and no-cook: This salsa comes together in about 10 minutes, which makes it perfect for last-minute cookouts, BBQs, and summer parties.
  • Fresh summer flavor: Juicy peaches, lime, cilantro, and jalapeno give every bite that sweet, spicy, fresh-from-the-farmers-market feel.
  • More than a chip dip: You can scoop it with chips, spoon it over grilled chicken, tuck it into tacos, or build an easy bowl with cilantro lime rice.

I love whipping up easy salsas to add color, flavor, and freshness to meals, so be sure to try my black bean corn feta dip or spicy pineapple mango salsa next!

Ingredients for Peach Jalapeno Salsa Recipe

This quick peach salsa uses simple, fresh ingredients that bring the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, tangy, and crunchy.

The ingredients for jalapeno peach salsa are arranged with labels on a countertop.
  • Fresh peaches: Use ripe but slightly firm peaches so they dice easily and hold their shape in the salsa.
  • Jalapeno: Jalapeno adds the perfect spicy kick! You can remove the seeds and membrane for a milder salsa.
  • Red onion: Red onion brings sharpness and color that balances the sweetness of the peaches.
  • Fresh cilantro: Cilantro adds that fresh, herby flavor that makes salsa taste bright.
  • Garlic: A small clove of garlic adds savory flavor without overpowering the peaches.
  • Lime juice: Fresh lime juice keeps the salsa fresh, tangy, and balanced.
  • Salt and pepper: A little salt and pepper brings all the flavors together.

See the recipe card below for the full list of ingredients and measurements.

Substitutions & Variations

This peach and jalapeno salsa is easy to adjust based on what you have, how spicy you like it, and how you plan to serve it.

  • Frozen or canned peaches can work in a pinch, but the texture may be a little softer. Make sure to choose varieties with no added sugar or syrup and drain them well before using!
  • For mild salsa, remove the seeds and white membrane from the jalapeno before dicing.
  • To make it spicier, leave some jalapeno seeds in, use two jalapenos, or swap in a serrano pepper.
  • Stir in diced avocado right before serving when you want a creamy peach avocado salsa.
  • Add fresh, canned, or grilled corn to give this salsa a summer cookout twist.
  • Mix in diced Roma tomatoes or red bell pepper if you want a classic peach salsa texture!
  • Use green onion in place of red onion when you want a softer onion flavor.
  • Drizzle in a little honey if your peaches need extra sweetness to balance the lime and jalapeno.
  • Add a pinch of chili lime seasoning, cumin, or smoked paprika when you want a smoky taco-night flavor.

How to Make Spicy Jalapeno Peach Salsa

Here's how to bring this fresh summer salsa together in just a few minutes.

Fresh cilantro is added to a bowl of diced peaches, jalapeno, and red onion.

Step 1: Add all the ingredients to a large bowl. Gently stir everything together until well combined, being careful not to mash the peaches.

A spoonful of jalapeno peach salsa is lifted from a glass mixing bowl.

Step 2: Taste and adjust with more lime juice, salt, or jalapeno if needed. I like to let the salsa sit for 10 to 15 minutes before serving so the flavors can come together.

Tips For Best Peach Jalapeño Salsa

A few small details make a big difference when you are making fresh peach salsa.

  • Choose firm, ripe peaches for the best texture because they dice easily and hold their shape without turning mushy.
  • Dice the peaches, jalapeno, and onion small so it scoops well with chips and works as a topping for tacos, grilled chicken, or bowls.
  • Taste the salsa before serving so you can adjust the sweet, spicy, and tangy balance with more lime juice, salt, or jalapeno.

What to Serve with Jalapeno Peach Salsa

This salsa is perfect with tortilla chips, but it can do so much more than sit on the appetizer table.

  • Serve it as a fresh summer appetizer with tortilla chips, pita chips, or plantain chips.
  • Spoon it over grilled chicken thighs or chicken breasts for an easy sweet and spicy summer dinner.
  • Add it to chicken tacos, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, pork tacos, or black bean tacos.
  • Build a bowl with cilantro lime rice, grilled chicken, avocado, corn, black beans, and this peach salsa.
  • Serve it over grilled salmon, shrimp skewers, or fish for a bright topping.
  • Pair it with pulled pork, pork tenderloin, or pork chops for a sweet heat situation that tastes like summer.
  • Spoon it over cream cheese, goat cheese, or whipped feta for an easy appetizer that feels a little elevated.

Storage

Fresh peach salsa is best the day it is made, but you can store leftovers for quick meals and snacks.

  • Refrigerator: Store leftover salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Make ahead: This recipe is great for parties or busy weeknights since you can prep it a few hours in advance. Before serving, give it a gentle stir and drain off any extra liquid if the peaches release a lot of juice.

FAQ

Do you peel peaches for peach salsa?

You do not have to peel peaches for peach salsa. The peel adds color and helps the peaches hold their shape, but you can peel them if you prefer a softer texture.

How spicy is this jalapeno peach salsa?

It depends on your jalapeno. For mild salsa, remove the seeds and membrane. For more heat, leave some seeds in or add a second jalapeno.

How do I know when peaches are ripe enough for salsa?

Look for peaches that give slightly when gently squeezed and have a sweet aroma. You want them ripe enough to be juicy and flavorful but still firm enough to hold their shape when diced.
