Ingredients

You only need a few ingredients to make these easy cheese bombs, and each one brings the flavor.

a bowl of pimento cheese perfect for creating cheese bombs, a can of buttermilk biscuits
  • Store-bought pimento cheese: Save time by using pre-made pimento cheese that's creamy and rich with just the right amount of tang. You can usually find this in the deli section of your local grocery store.
  • Can of biscuits (jumbo): These fluffy biscuits make it easy to wrap up the cheesy filling for a soft, pillowy exterior.
  • Butter with herb seasoning: Adds a delicious, savory finish that crisps up the outside of each cheese bomb in the air fryer.

See the recipe card below for the full ingredient list and measurements.

A hand holding a piece of uncooked biscuit dough.

Step 4: Fold and pinch the edges of the biscuit dough to seal the cheese inside. Roll in the palm of your hand to form a ball.

A glass bowl containing melted butter mixed with herbs and spices on a countertop.

Step 5: Mix melted butter with a pinch of Italian seasoning and garlic powder.

Step 6: Brush the cheese bombs with the garlic herb butter and place them seam-side down in the air fryer basket, ensuring they aren't touching.

Step 7: Air fry for 6-8 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.

Step 8: Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch dressing or hot sauce.

Substitutions

  • Homemade pimento cheese: You can use your own homemade pimento cheese if you prefer more control over the flavor and spice level.
  • Cheese options: Feel free to swap the pimento cheese with other favorite cheeses like cheddar cheese or cream cheese mixed with chives.
  • Gluten-free: Use gluten-free biscuit dough if you're accommodating gluten sensitivities.

Variations

  • Spicy variation: Add diced jalapeños to the pimento cheese mixture for a spicy kick.
  • Bacon lover's version: Mix crispy, crumbled bacon into the cheese filling before air frying for extra flavor.
  • Extra cheesy: Add shredded cheddar or mozzarella to the pimento cheese for extra creamy melting cheese.

Equipment

  • Air fryer - My #1 recommended kitchen appliance that use daily! It helps crisp things up without the need for excessive oils, plus faster cook times is a win.
  • Silicone pastry brush - Using a silicone pastry brush helps to evenly coat the cheese bombs with butter. I'm a fan of silicone brushes because unlike traditional brushes, silicone brushes don't shed hairs, so you won't have to worry about stray bristles ending up in your food!

Storage

  • Fridge: Store leftover cheese bombs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat: Warm them in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  • Freezer: Freeze unbaked cheese bombs and air fry straight from the freezer, adding an extra 2-3 minutes to the cooking time.

Top Tip

  • Avoid overcrowding. Make sure the cheese bombs aren't touching in the air fryer so they cook evenly and get crispy on all sides.
  • Don't overfill. Avoid overstuffing the cheese bombs to prevent the filling from bursting out during cooking.
  • Seal the seams tightly. Make sure the edges of the biscuit dough are fully sealed to prevent the cheese from leaking out during cooking.
  • Brush with butter before cooking. This ensures the bombs turn golden brown and have a flavorful, crisp exterior.
